Case Study: Mexico City

CELL PLANNING CRITERIAS

When migrating from FLEX™ to ReFLEX™, the height of the antennas has to be lowered to avoid interference from adjacent cells.

Even though the normal output power of a Mobitex™ base station is 3W, to get a balanced up- and down link, 6W output power is required. This is achieved by adding an external amplifier.

EiRP is the actual signal strength, leaving the antennas. The EiRP values of the base stations in the graph above represent the signals generated by the base stations, and the EiRP values of the devices, the signal generated by the pagers.

The calculated cell radius sizes are based on the above values.
