Subject: Global Paging Convention

Dear Friends of Wireless Messaging,

I have noticed that as I get older my priorities are changing. As a young man priority number one was always my work. Although I am still very active in radio communications and wireless messaging, lately I have begun to really appreciate the importance of the friends that I have had the good fortune to meet. I guess I am telling you this in an effort to explain why I am so excited about attending the Global Paging Convention next month in Montreal, Canada.

Trade shows and conventions would be just more boring work if it were not for the fact that many of the people at the ones I go to are my friends. Yes, business is important, but so are friends — and what could be better than combining the two? Well, that would be combining the two in one of the world's great historical cities!

I have written a short essay about My First Trip To Montreal. It deals with a couple of other things that I love in addition to my work, and my friends — visiting scenic places, and great food. There is a link to this essay at the end of this message. I hope you will read it.

Now on to the business part of the convention. Have you noticed that since this one is a Global Convention there are going to be people there from all over the world? From what I have been able to gather so far the following countries will be represented:

  • Sweden
  • Germany
  • England
  • Ireland
  • Canada
  • USA
  • Belgium
  • Switzerland
  • Australia

Here are some of the topics that will be presented and discussed:

  • Paging, a Global Industry
  • Technology Repurposing Spectrum—from Narrowband to Broadband
  • Successful Diversification Strategies
  • Paging Systems Evolution and the Regulatory Quagmire
  • Answering the Call—Paging's Performance in Global First Responder Markets
  • Paging—Worldwide Trusted Partner of the Healthcare Industry
  • Competing Technologies in the Healthcare Industry
  • The Future of Paging
  • Round Table Discussions on topics within the industry

I hope no one thinks that attending this convention is some kind of corporate-sponsored junket. If I didn't believe that the business benefits far outweigh the cost, I wouldn't be recommending this event. I know we are all going through uncertain times right now, but business must go on! Don't forget that our wireless messaging services will help our customers deal with the current recession by reducing costs and increasing efficiency. So once again, please accept my personal encouragement to join us in Montreal.

Global Paging Convention, June 17 – 19, Montreal, Canada. It's not too late. You still have time to go.

Here is a re-print of my reminder check list:

  • Get a U.S. Passport
    • You can apply for a passport at many U.S. post offices.
    • Expedited passports are available. Several companies specialize in expedited passports and 24-hour turnaround service. One company is RushMyPassport.com.
    • The U.S. government also offers expedited passport service, but it takes up to two weeks. If passengers are traveling within two weeks, they can make an appointment at a regional passport office. Visit travel.state.gov for details.
  • Register to attend the convention.
  • Make hotel reservations.
  • Check out vendor opportunities.
  • See what a beautiful city Montreal is in this video.
  • Check out the June weather in Montreal.
    • Average June temperature: 17ºC / 63ºF
    • Average June high: 24ºC / 75ºF
    • Average June low: 11ºC / 52ºF
